Education and Experience Requirements for Executive Director
- Mind for business, heart for ministry and learning
- Business experience required
- Public relations and marketing experience required
- College degree preferred
- Nonprofit board experience a plus
- Budgetary and fiscal planning skills
- Grant writing experience preferred, but not required
- Facilitation, presentation, and public speaking ability required
- Proficient in computer skills such as Word, Excel, Google Docs, Dropbox
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to write and use proper grammar and punctuation
- Active member of a local church
- Affirms Womenary doctrinal statement, pastoral reference requested
Executive Director Role and Responsibilities
A. Christian Leadership & Community Involvement
- Uphold a Christ-centered environment in classes and Board meetings
- Agree and believe in the Womenary Doctrinal statement (see below)
- Maintain an active membership in a local church
- Encourage students, donors, and Board members toward Christ likeness
- Establish and engage with the East Texas community, including faith-based conferences, other nonprofit leaders, and churches, for cultivating partnerships and relationships
B. Program Oversight
- Oversee and direct program development
- Oversee and direct all program advertising, marketing, and semester promotions in print, web, and social media
- Maintain corporate brand in print, web, and social media content
- Oversee and direct the planning of each semester, including classes, semi-annual pop-ups, and other special seminars
- Initiate the annual planning schedule (when to begin planning for each semester and deadlines for publications)
- Oversee blog/writers/graphics
C. Student Development
- Provide a comfortable and educational atmosphere in each class
- Approve/deny scholarship applications
- Strategic solutions to encourage student growth
D. Board Support
- Attend monthly Board meetings and task force meetings as needed
- Manage operational policies and procedures; recommend policy amendments to Board of Directors as needed
- Keep official documents in an organized manner: bylaws, policy/procedure, minutes and records
- Recognize organizational needs; direct and strategically implement effective risk management
- Negotiate and maintain vendor contracts, insurance policies; consult with Board of Directors as needed
- Provide monthly reports to Board of Directors
- Provide complete Board Notebooks to each new Board member
- Communicate guidance to the Board about strategic planning, mission, and vision
E. Class Support
- Communicate with host locations and professors
- Set up and manage online registration
- Anticipate programming needs of website and LMS/backend
- Facilitate live classes and/or create staff rotation to do so
- Administer student surveys at end of each semester
- Ensure audio recordings of classes and seminars
F. Volunteer Development
- Maintain volunteer database and add to the list of volunteers through student surveys
- Provide opportunities for student volunteers
- Demonstrate sincere appreciation to volunteers and recognize their contributions
G. Donor Management & Fundraising
- Lead grant writing pursuits and participate in fundraising strategies in partnership with the Board of Directors
- Lead stewardship planning, donor cultivation and fundraising appeals in partnership with the Board of Directors
- Create and distribute an Annual Report each year
- Utilize a donor system software for thank you calls/letters/conversations
- Plan and communicate with the Board regarding fundraising and fundraising events
- Provide IRS required donation documentation to donors
- Demonstrate sincere appreciation to donors and recognize their contributions
- Engage in donor appreciation (mail, in person, phone, email) within 3 days of receiving a donation (does not include donations to cover CC processing)
H. Staff & Contract Labor Support
- Cultivate positive culture and cohesive relations between staff members, professors, volunteers, donors, and students
- Responsible for hiring, reviewing, and termination of support staff and contract labor as approved by Board of Directors
- Lead, delegate, and supervise staff and contract labor in line with employment regulations and Womenary policy
- Suggest needed support staff or contract labor needs to the Board of Directors
- Create and/or revise job descriptions and desired tasks of support staff
I. Professor Support & Oversight
- Hire professors who meet the qualifications in Professor Handbook, continue to recruit as needed
- Review submitted syllabi and recommended texts
- Serve as liaison between professors and the Board
- Schedule substitute professors as needed
- Communicate with professors in a timely and professional manner
J. Finances & Budget Support
- Maintain Christian ethics, sound financial responsibility, and prudent oversight of the finances and budget
- Develop annual budget and present to Board for approval; request budget amendments as needed
- Accurately handle/record/deposit cash or checks of tuition or donations
- Pay professors and bills for organization in a timely manner
- Suggest money-saving strategies to the Board of Directors
- Supervise the completion of all IRS and Government required documentation as needed with accountant
K. Other
- Any other responsibilities and duties deemed necessary by the Board of Directors
