Blog / COVID-19...Wear Comfortable Clothes

While we are sheltering in place, get comfortable—but remember others are watching. In light of our current situation, it is easy to get caught up in the fear that surrounds this pandemic. Fear and human nature are on display. A society, reliant on science and technology that is woefully insufficient, is running about wildly, looking for a solution. “What to do if Netflix and Amazon Prime reduce our streaming speed? WOE IS ME”

But seriously, we Christians will have a role in being the “light of Christ” in this crisis. Friends and acquaintances who know of your faith will be watching how you and other believers react. Make sure you do not act as the rest of the world, but as people of faith. We are confident in a power larger than the situation. Imagine what it would be like to not have that assurance? Be the confidence and comfort those around you need, especially when it is least expected. People will come to you because they have heard that Christ is with you. Make sure that you act and speak to that truth. It may be one of the greatest opportunities we Christians have to stand apart from the expectations of the world. They are looking for hope - let them grab the edge of your robe.

“Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favor of the LORD. Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew (BELIEVER), saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”    Zech. 9:22-23

As Christ’s adopted chosen ones, people are going to be watching us. We often avoid evangelical and mission-type opportunities because we think of ourselves as unqualified or believe we are too busy doing what we do. In these times of uncertainty, consider this: How you simply live your life can serve as a beacon to those who live in your world, revealing to the seekers and unbelievers around you that Christ is real and that God is with you. What an opportunity!

Wear CUTE comfortable clothes!  People are watching!
