Blog / Thanksgiving

I am thankful.

Thank-filled.

Thankful, not because of rightness in this world. It is not.

Not because it will get better. It might not.

Thankful, thank-filled, because my hope rests in His ability, not mine.

Not yours.

Not this world’s, or its ways, or its handouts.

My thankfulness rests on His promises that burst out of Who He is:

Faithful.

Love.

His love, that invites us to action, to obedience.

Therein lies harmony and security.

Abundance.

In a world that is starving, I am invited to feast.

I am thankful, in discipline, in consideration, in pondering His Glory.

Even surrounded by my circumstances.

My face warmed by His presence.

His face.

His faithfulness.

It is True—this hope.

More real than this very real struggle.

I choose to lift my eyes to where thanks flourishes and thrives.

Where warmness and true comfort permeate my cold and unfair suffering.

Thankfulness lives with Him.

I am invited to dwell there.

Daily.

Minute by minute.

True encouragement is inviting others to dwell there too and feast.

Thanksgiving.

Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word]; and let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.                Hebrews 10:23-25 (AMP)
